Tanika

Katy Marie has been in our studio a few times and we’ve also had the pleasure of shooting with her on location as well, so when she asked if we would be interested in shooting her daughter, we jumped at the chance. Tanika was simply awesome to work with, relaxed and posed naturally, hardly needing any direction. Wardrobe changes were quicker than I’ve ever seen, and time just flew by, scores of fabulous images now to sort through. Look forward already to seeing them both back here again soon.  Meanwhile, heres some teasers….

Meagan and Craig

This past week has been amazing…and simply flashed by in a blur. New friends, new clients…becoming reacquainted with some old friends, and tonight having the pleasure of photographing a young couple that are truly in love. Meagan and Craig were an absolute pleasure to be with, good company, fun and making it easy to capture some great images. Shooting outdoors in the summer (apart from the infuriating mosquitoes) is great, fresh air, warmth and of course, gorgeous sunsets. Overall, the shoot this evening came together in spectacular fashion. As always…some teasers from the shoot….(click to see larger size)

Kim Martin

Earlier this year, I had the pleasure of meeting Kim Martin, who is a professional pet portrait artist. Having seen her work first hand, the detail in her paintings is incredible. Kim who is from Thornton, is featured in the current issue of PIE magazine on sale now at Page & Turner Dunlop st and Chapters/Indigo stores. It was a pleasure to have her back in the studio today and catch up over a coffee. Kim Martin can be found online at www.kimmartin.ca

We hear so much on the news about the Canadian forces on the news, whether it is radio, television or the printed media – and I think perhaps for most of us, we never really think about the soldiers and the ongoing conflict in Afghanistan. Most of the coverage we see is the ‘bad news’, more often than not when another soldier gives their life for his or her country. We don’t really see the positive aspects of what the armed forces do there too often, such as the kindness extended to total strangers on occasion helping and assisting them.

Even less thought of are the families that they leave behind, often for several months at a time. That cant be easy for either soldier or family. I had the pleasure of meeting one of these families this weekend, for a family portrait session. Although the sun didn’t co-operate too well with us, the rain did nevertheless hold off and with the assistance of George Baker, we managed to shoot almost 600 frames in the one hour session. In a few days time, some of these photo’s will be winging their way to a proud and courageous dad currently on duty in Afghanistan.

The people who mean the most to you – your children, siblings and extended family – change and grow a little bit (or a lot!) every day.

Children are full of laughter, joy and discovery and images of children growing older each year are wonderful as a family record. Parents, grandparents, godparents. Aunts, uncles and others will enjoy receiving a picture of a child to brighten their days. A portrait is often defined as a likeness of a person, especially of the person’s face. Our portraits capture your character and personality, and will be a photograph you’ll be proud to hang on your wall for many years to come.

Families are the beginning, ever present and the continuity of the cycle of humanity through the generations. They are the caring, loving, sharing forces that link us to each other and to our ancestry. We capture those special moments for you:parties, religious rites, and environmental portraits to treasure forever

So I hear you ask, whats coming soon?

What about my favourite pet?

Imagine an obviously professional, highly detailed, life-like and one-of-a-kind portrait of you favorite pet hanging in that special spot in your home that you’re thinking about even now. We will capture the individual characteristics, spirit and beauty unique to your friend which will offer cherished and lasting memories you’ll treasure for years to come. Tiffany Everett, finalist for Miss Petite Canada 2010 Ontario

Despite the cold weather we’ve started this year with, things heated up in the studio quickly today with Tiffany Everett. Tiffany is a finalist in Miss Petite Canada Ontario (a division of Miss Canada) and I was excited to have her in the studio for a promotional shoot for her. Hair styling was provided by Sandra Roberts of PIE Magazine, and Make up was courtesy of Sherrey Hall. Also shooting with me today was George Baker of Baker Photography. I’d like to wish Tiffany the very best of luck in the upcoming stages of the contest and look forward to supporting her.

An old friend….

Had a friend in the studio today…and no stranger to shooting with me. Matt Simon has modeled for me quite a few times over the past year…so when he stopped by the studio today, it was a great chance to catch up and share what was going on. Great company makes for an enjoyable weekend, and the time today just flew by. Matt is taking his model career seriously and is headed for an agency, so a few up to date photo’s were in order and I think its safe to say everybody here today enjoyed themselves and had a great time. I’m sure Matt will do extremely well in his career and look forward to shooting him here again soon in the studio
