I’m so proud to have been a part of Help-Portrait in 2009 along with the many volunteers and other photographers that we had here in Barrie. What a great gift we gave to the world overall. It didn’t seem like such a big deal when we had our cameras in our hands and snapping away at the shutter. There is no greater blessing than charity and giving of your talents. Just a few short months, 20 Barrie photographers including myself were privileged to be part of Help Portrait. Help Portrait was conceived by, and founded by celebrity photographer, Jeremy Cowart. At its core, Help Portrait is a community of photographers coming together for a day across the globe, using their photography skills to give back to their local community. Its not about money, its not about taking photographs, its about giving! None of the photographers profit or gain from the event. Of course, its also not just about the photographers giving back, its also the countless volunteers helping out, from hair and makeup, local students, greeters and so many more. The December 12th 2009 event had a huge response worldwide, both from the photographic and local community. Here in Barrie, many local and national businesses stepped forward and supported us, many of whom have already indicated their support for the next event on December 4th this year. Planning for this years event got underway here last January, and we will be looking for supporters and sponsors to complement the help we already have.
